“Hello, my name is Paul Duxfield, although most call me Duxy”

I’ve been involved in photography in one form or another since my teenage years in the 1970’s.
My dad gave me my first camera, a roll film camera from Russia called a Lubitel 66, which I would load up with film, shoot and then process the results in a home darkroom. I was hooked from then on, and as well as a lifelong hobby it has become my work since the mid 1980’s. I’ve worked in specialist camera shops, taken pictures and written articles for magazines and the press, and I deliver talks and attend events to get out and meet and greet.

SCUBA DIVING & SPECIALIST PHOTO RETAIL

My other passion in life is Scuba Diving and I worked in a professional capacity as a Dive Guide and Videographer in Egypt at the end of the 90’s and early Noughties. I returned to the UK in 2003 to a new career selling underwater photographic equipment which I did for over 10 years, before making a change to work in dive travel and tourism, thus combining my two loves of diving and photography.

TRAVEL & TOURISM

Through luck, persistence and a willingness to embrace the new, I now find myself running photo trips and workshops in photography all over the world. So if a fun trip exploring exotic parts of the world in great company whets your appetite then please head on over to my trips summary page to see if something piques your interest.

BETWEEN OVERSEAS TRIPS

I still contribute to dive magazines, and deliver talks when I’m back home in England.
I also teach photography and photo editing for personal tuition and small groups all over the country so check out my services page to get more info.

My latest venture is to revisit the past and use my experience of vintage analog film cameras and processing I learnt at the start of my career, and deliver a series of short fun courses giving people the chance to use a variety of old school film cameras, up here where I live in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

I’m a big believer in sharing the knowledge, and when I learn something new, I like to pass it on. So over time expect some short videos shared on a linked YouTube Channel on a wide variety of photo topics.

I’d love this to be a two way street, so by all means get in touch via email or my Social Media channels, and ask me any pressing questions you might have.

Regards Duxy x
